| Certified Landscape Technician Program | Professional Turf & Landscape Conference | Landscape Contracting Seminars |

The Landscape Contracting Seminars are a series of workshops designed to broaden the knowledge and expertise of the landscape professional. These hands-on courses are ideal for individuals currently working in the green industry who wish to expand their understanding of landscape management.

The training provided is an integral part of the Certified Landscape Technician Program (CLT), currently administered by the New York State Turf and Landscape Association, Inc. in conjunction with the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET). Taking these seminars in no way obligates you to take the CLT exam. Information provided here about the exam is for informational purposes only.

Certification seeks to recognize proficiency in the landscape workforce, upgrade the status of the landscape professional, and provide the public with a means of identifying qualified landscape professionals.

The certification test is an OPTIONAL test that you may want to participate in. It is an educational experience, one certainly worth the enrollment fees. The CLT designation will help differentiate you from your competition.

The certification process is divided into 2 parts:

  1. The first part involves a written exam which tests the applicants' knowledge in all facets of the landscape industry. The written exam is a series of multiple choice questions.
  2. The second part is a practical exam which is held at one of our regional test sites. During this second testing phase, an applicant must pass the core test and one of these three Landscape specialties: Maintenance, Irrigation, and Installation. Once an applicant has passed the written exam, the practical core test and one (1) of the 3 specialty tests the applicant is awarded the Certified Landscape Technician Designation. Benefits include:
    • The right to use the letters CLT after their names.
    • The right to use the CLT logo on their printed materials.
    • A CLT plaque and a CLT lapel pin.
The New York State Turf and Landscape Association, PLANET and other participating associations will be promoting the use of Certified Landscape Technicians in the media. More and more employers are advertising the fact that they have certified employees on staff - why not increase your marketability by increasing your knowledge and upgrading your skills.

The classes are being given at several different locations in order to provide an abundance of materials for hands-on training. CLT training is also available at the annual Professional Turf & Landscape Conference, scheduled for January 14, 2004.

Recertification credits will be given for the appropriate classes, call for details.
